‘My first encounter into photography was reasonably late, in my late twenties. Although I took an A Level in art previously, I had never realised how photography would enable me to show the things I think and see’

Denise Rimmer originally completed a HND in 2003 but decided to return to her photography education and recently achieved a First Class Honors Degree from The University of Greenwich.

Although Denise has worked for several years within commercial portraiture, previously featured in Professional Photographer, she wanted to renew her passion for her own personal work with nature based fine art and still life.

The theme throughout Denise’s work is to find beauty in the nature around us that would not usually be seen. This has recently led to the discovery of ‘photomicrography’ in her work, in which a basic compound microscope is used with a digital SLR and adaptor to achieve stunning results. This work has been exhibited at The Gallery in Redchurch St and The Printspace, London.

Her work in photomicrography is continuing with new projects being developed at present, which will be featured within her Ultra Lumen - Art Photography series.
